At last a politician who has some common sense.
We are used to politicians making stupid descisions on our behalf and we are used to paying for them when they go tits up (remember the dome?) However sometimes a minister does say something that makes a whole lot of sense and in this case the minister gets shot down by the daily mail crowd. I read an article in the Metro today which stated that Tessa Jowell said “Britain would not have bid for the 2012 olympics if it had been known that there was a recession round the corner”. This to me has got to be one of the most sensible thing to fall out of a politicians mouth.
The problem is now the daily mail crew are demanding that she stands down as minister because she had the balls to speak some perfect sense. The government warns us that in 2009-2010 the unemployment figures will be up from 1.62 million to over 3 million people, yet we feel that we can ignore this and continue to throw billions of pounds into a 2 week sporting event.
This is just another case of the daily mail readers getting hot under the collar about someone daring to speak their mind.
Just don’t get me started on the whole Ross/Brand/Clarkson/Oliver and now Ramsey issues worth a mention in parliment.
