Day 7+ Cloning: There is a lot no one is saying about Top Don (including their own support)

More and more I come across people referencing TopDon key programming tools as a purchase they regret because it never seems to be able to do any of the things they try to do with them. That is news to me. Their diagnostic scanners are top notch... but are their key & cloning tools?

TopDon's official YouTube has one video about programming keys with this tool but never once did they reference the source of the keys they were programming. I have emailed TopDon support after their interactive chat could not answer the question and I still have not heard a response from support (month's later... still nothing). I even engaged my local TopDon salesman I purchased all my tools through and still have not gotten a response. As it seems to me... this cannot generate a universal key for a specific vehicle. Once generated, however, the TopDon can modify the keys ID (when cloning) and can program those keys to a vehicle - but that is not very convenient.

If you already have to use a Autel, Xhorse or KeyDIY tool then why would you switch over to the TopDon tool for programming? That seems more complicated and unnecessary. If you do not have an Autel IM508, Autel IM608 or like tablet systems from Xhorse or KeyDIY then maybe the TopDon would be a useful option...

TopDon advertises the functionality to be able to clone a vehicles key by programming a key to have the same ID and programming as one of the keys that originally came with the vehicle from the factory. Cloning functionality on Autel and Xhorse tools, as far as I know, are very limited to certain chips, certain vehicles and even whether or not the vehicle already has an aftermarket key from Xhorse (apparently you can clone an Xhorse universal key to another Xhorse universal key without even needing the vehicle present)
