Key programming, All Keys Lost, and Best Practices

Always program a key to a car before doing an All Keys Lost (AKL) to ensure that your key will actually work with the vehicle. Not all keys and not all tools will make a proper key for every vehicle.

Always record PIN/Passwords if displayed. Save them someplace they will not get lost until you are done with them.

Cut a cheap key to make sure your decoding works in the locks before you cut an expensive key fob that is often a one and done type of key. If they do not have replaceable blades this is an important consideration.

Autel - Best for NIssan, Mazda and BMW versus Xhorse. Has one of the best user interfaces. Autel has toyota emulator built in.

"I’ve done all keys lost with mine. It works great. The only time it fucked me was on that Kia borrego. It pulled the pin but gave me 3 pins. It said I had 3 attempts but in reality you only get two and on the second if you’re wrong it locks you out. Turns out the third pin down was the correct pin and it locked me out and I had to wait an hour. "

OEM keys have to be unlocked with a special adapter in order to use them again.

Xhorse - Is considered the best for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Honda, Kia, .... You can clone Xhorse remotes! I also have read that using the Xhorse key tool you always want to select add a key when you are working on a ford product. AKA you should always see if you can successfully add a key before you try to delete any of them.

XHORSE SOFTWARE IS AWESOME for the vvdi/vvdi2

XP400 Pro when using with a laptop - Cannot use APB112 emulator tool. That tool requires IM508 or IM 608 even though it has a usb port.
