Important things to know about PC power supplies, in general

Not all manufacturers use the same pin outs for their power cables as everyone else does. They are NOT standard. Something I found out by bricking 2 drives full of data when I built version 2 of my server. There is no standardization of these cables and its absolutely ridiculous.
Once you have power supplies out of cases and cables disconnected from them it is a long way back to figuring out what cables work with each of those supplies. Given the cost of power supplies for anything other then a mining rig or high end gaming PC here is my recommendation: when in doubt what cables go to which power supply, throw them all out. Buy a new one and be vigilant from there.
I purchased a power supply tester to ensure whatever cables I intend to add to a power supply that did not come with it are working properly before I plug them into a device for the first time. You can get something decent for 20 bucks just pick the one with the most reviews and read them. That is actually my standard advice for buying anything on the internet lol.
