Intermittent problems... Sometimes the only way to rule out a problem is to replace a part

This is something I almost hate to mention but there are situations where it cannot be avoided. No one likes to hear "sorry but we have to wait until the problem gets worse to be able to prove what is wrong with your car" in this day and age: they expect quick results with a reasonable cost. If you have every had to fix a vehicle struck by lightening you would understand how time consuming diagnostics can really be. It is hard to relate such an experience to a customer when their own knowledge base is entirely different from yours: it is the reason they came to you in the first place.

I started this to talk about an issue a customer experienced with a Nissan Rogue but as soon as I started writing I remembered the lightning truck! The diagnostic circumstances in that case is a bit different because the repair of that truck was done entirely by proving the extent of what had happened to it. We will stick to the Rogue for the purposes of this tale and give the lightening truck the last remaining Coming soon slot (finally caught up with all the posts I had summarized in my notes since I started all this)
