I do not have time to explain so here is the list with my thoughts about future purchases.
USB EEPROM chip tool (backup)
XP400 Pro (maybe)
VVDI/VVDI2 (probably superior to the XP400 Pro)
Laptop, or 2 (backup purposes/features/specialty uses)
KM100 v1.42 (before Autel took away all keys lost on GM, Toyota, etc)
Xhorse Key Tool Max Pro (or Mini & Max combo)
Key stock (Autel top 10, IKEYFD005AH, XHORSE XM38 Toyota key (XS line), amongst others)
a manual key duplication machine (cheap, easy, fast)
a key machine that can cut from code (not a condor probably a keyline)
Lishi lock decoder set
I am working hard on getting to the bottom of this. I will say that the Xhorse tools are (collectively) superior to the Autel tools but you have to have both to have complete coverage.
Autel KM-100 notes:
A lot of professionals say this is the go to tool they use 90 percent of the time
Xhorse Key Tool Max Pro notes:
Superior for nissan/mazda/CDJR
Future tools
OBDSTAR keymaster G3 (all addons) (DC706 cloning functionality which is great for ford BCMs although it is widely believed to have "half coverage," the addons give you the crash reset functionality, radio programming on some chevys, ...)
At least an IM508 (The 608 does not add any features. but AUTEL may be a bad idea with the functions it takes away with updates. remains to be seen.)
diykey KD-X4 5 in 1 tool (has MCU replacement instructions on a handheld tablet with adapter for land rovers where it can program virgin MCU chips.... I have not found another tool with the same functionality through my searching but I have to play with my xp400 pro some more)
Tools I am on the fence about
Top Don T-Ninja Pro - too many questions with no answers available. support never responds to any of the messages I send them.
Top Don Pheonix Smart, remote or max - diagnostic computer with the value advantage
