New parts pre painted & shipped to you

I have been pursuing this subject since I lost all my reasonably priced auto body guys. This is something everyone has probably already dealt with but this is a new development for me. I have a couple of guy who do great paint and who know their business enough to have my respect. I got a truck recently that needs 2 fenders, bumper and hood plus some assorted small bits painted like OEM front and back. Here I am thinking Id be out like 800 for paint... before I got the first 2000+ dollar quote for just paint. It is not a pearl, it is not a metallic, its a basic color I have already had a good match with a single stage spray can that I had done myself. Now, I'm not about to paint large parts with a spray can when I have turbine with HVLP guns just sitting on the shelf. I stumbled across a couple of sites and read a bunch of reviews about pre-painted parts shipped to you right around the time one of my customers needed a new tail gate.

I bought this on ebay for under 600 dollars shipped. It is a 2009 tacoma tail gate painted to match from providing the VIN alone. It showed up 5 days after I bought it and was perhaps the most professionally shipped item I have ever received. A box in a box with plenty of packing material with the painted tail gate covered in powder and wrapped in plastic. Flawless paint work, everything was covered and the match was perfect... which shouldn't even be possible using just a paint code. (name coming soon). The paint still came out over 300 a panel but I was impressed nonetheless. I looked forward to seeing what they would price out my job for including parts and shipping.

That being said - my specifice application is not so easy. I am doing the facelift the vehicle got a couple years after my vehicle which just so happened to no longer be offered in the color of my vehicle. The websites that do painted panels shipped were not very receptive to what amounts to being a custom color (a service they do not offer).
